Don Siegelman has been fighting for us as a public official and even went to
prison because he wanted our children to have free college education.

Don's sentence was enhanced for speaking out against the political nature of the
prosecution. He was handcuffed and shackled, and immediately removed from
the courtroom. He was then taken to a maximum security prison where he was
put into solitary confinement.

Nine months later Don was released by a ruling of the Court of Appeals saying
there are "substantial questions of law and fact likely to result in reversal". 54
former state Attorneys General (both Democrats and Republicans) filed a brief
saying that there was no crime. While we are hopeful the Court of Appeals will
reverse Don's conviction he is in critical need of funds to continue his fight.

This fight is not just about Don's freedom, although that ought to be enough to
cause us all to give – it is also about restoring justice and bringing Karl Rove to
justice. As Don has said,

"Our democracy has been threatened. The U S House must be encouraged to
vote Rove in Contempt. We must ensure Karl Rove is held accountable for his
abuse of power."

Don really needs our help in this fight to Restore Justice and to Preserve our
Democracy.
