...."I think you .... have to connect a couple of more dots," Siegelman
told us. "If you start with the fact that the investigation was first started
by Karl Rove's client who was the the Attorney General of Alabama."
Siegelman is referring to then-Alabama attorney general Bill Pryor.
After the state attorney general started investigating Siegelman,
President Bush appointed Pryor to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of
Appeals -- the same court that will hear Siegelman's appeal on
December 9. The governor treads lightly when discussing any
possible involvement by Pryor. We asked Siegelman: "I've never
heard you mention Bill Pryor's name?" The governor responded, " No.
I've tried not to mention his name."
