1. A new report released this week found
more political pollution of the U.S. Justice
Department under President Bush
Opinion in the Birmingham News
A new report released this week found that partisanship clouded the
critical work of the U.S. Justice Department.
Just when you think the Bush administration can't possibly do Don
Siegelman any more favors, along comes more news of political
misdeeds in the agency that prosecuted the former governor.
A report released Monday charges that U.S. Justice Department
officials under Bush broke the law by using political criteria to hire
prosecutors, immigration judges and other government lawyers.

2. A strange way to look at Don Siegelman's
plight
Editorial in Tuscaloosa News
But I am at a loss for the tact The News took in a Saturday editorial
lamenting official government findings that the Justice Department
was indeed tainted under the tenure of former Attorney General
Alberto Gonzales:
"Just when you think the Bush administration can't do Don Siegelman
any more favors, along comes more news of political misdeeds in the
agency that prosecuted the former governor."
Come again; favors?

3. Don Siegelman Must Have Spewed When
He Read This
by Roger Shuler of Legal Schnauzer

have spewed it clear across his kitchen. I make that assumption
because when I read it, I spewed a mouthful of orange juice across
our kitchen.
This is Alabama's leading newspaper folks, and here's how it frames
the story:
THE PROBLEM WITH THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION IS THAT IT
KEEPS DOING FAVORS FOR DON SIEGELMAN!
